Let’s Get Unproductive Again!

“Breaking Ben” Episode 5 My first thoughts was here comes a Walter White inspired episode until I watched and seen how the group literally broke ben down. It was hard to watch as he was really feeling unwanted and no one stood up for him. This when I saw Ben go from the insider to the outsider. As, we see him not fitting into his circle of friends anymore and being pushed aside by his friends. This episode helped me realize that ben changed the most over the course of the show. He went from reeling from his break up … Continue reading Let’s Get Unproductive Again!

Bowling For Columbine Extra Credit!!

The Pain… The video of the shooting victims were illustrated through smash cuts of victims crying was used to give the audience the heart wrenching feeling of how detrimental this shooting was in their lives. The Contradiction… The Song “Happiness is a Warm Gun” was in the background as the montage of people buying guns used as a contradiction to showcase how people are making a huge mistake in buying these guns while the music is saying otherwise. The Song “What a Wonderful World” also, has a daring montage sequence to depict all the American wars we had throughout our … Continue reading Bowling For Columbine Extra Credit!!

Amelie- Film Review Extra Credit!!

As, a film major I felt there is no better way to analyze a film and review it without pointing out all the layers that made it great! Love… Amelie trying to find love was depicted throughout the film as transportation was being used as a motif by extreme long shot and editing to show her traveling to meet her crush. Amelie thought about all the endless possibilities of love and what it is like to be engaged in sexual activity. The montage sequences of Amelie thinking about all the orgasms people are having which illustrates how imaginative she is … Continue reading Amelie- Film Review Extra Credit!!

Media Night Extra Credit!!!

WELCOME TO MEDIA NIGHTS WITH AL JAZEERA! When, I volunteered for Media Nights I didn’t know what I was in for as I learned so much. I did not know about the News channel Al Jazeera or what their message was before going to media nights, which was pretty cool to learn. The correspondents sat on stage and explained their position with Al Jazeera and why they got involved with the network in the first place. I remembered when Kat Kilpatrick showed a clip about these people who spoke this language that is going extinct, was truly fascinating to watch. … Continue reading Media Night Extra Credit!!!

“Good Night, and Good Luck.”

Educate…Relate… The film truly shows how Edward R. Murrow believed in the power of television and what it could become for us in the future. He illustrated this idea in his speech in 1958 with the Radio and Television News Directors Association. Further, he stated that television wasn’t just “wires and lights in a box” that it was such a vital tool that can be used to educate us on topics from teaching kids ABCs to Politics and so forth. He wanted to paint the idea that television will be here for years to come and it is a branch … Continue reading “Good Night, and Good Luck.”

Trevor, Stewart, Oliver, South Park, Wittiness with a Splash of Satire’s Brew

He is just so…. “Witty” He’s witty because he strikes while the iron is hot. For an example, the David Rees episode, I analyzed how he responded so quickly and was able to insult David with his own metaphor, showcasing the stupidity in the remark and quickly satirizing it for the viewer to question the character of the person who said it. The People Have Spoken The Wrap is pro Trevor and The Salon is opposed to Trevor. The Wrap published an article titled How Trevor Noah’s ‘Daily Show’ Is Beating Jon Stewart’s, which immediately drew me in and made … Continue reading Trevor, Stewart, Oliver, South Park, Wittiness with a Splash of Satire’s Brew

Welles and The War Of the Worlds 1938

What Do I Think Before Listening? The broadcast maybe pretty believable due to it being known in history for the sound effects that were made in the background, to give that effect of aliens actually invading New Jersey. Also, the broadcast probably was quick and straight to the point to grab viewers early on. Why did people buy it? I feel that people bought it because of the way it was delivered and the fact that it was being delivered by Welles and the Mercury Theatre that made people assume that it couldn’t be fake. Scary, Vivid Points??? At this … Continue reading Welles and The War Of the Worlds 1938
